AN HISTORIC gate between a school and churchyard in Porlock which was removed last year for safety reasons has been restored to its rightful place.
Donations to reinstate the Rose Gate were made by the parish council, the church and St Dubricius School, while a grant from the Exmoor National Park Authority helped to reach the appeal target of just under £3,000.
Rose Gate Group member Kim Rowe said: “We were really touched that the children chose the Rose Gate Appeal as their Christmas play charity - they raised more than £70.
“This has been a real community effort - the key organisations in the village as well as Exmoor National Park Authority, have all pulled together.”
