A DECISION has been made on the test site to be used to trial planting wildflower seeds on verges.
District Cllr Alec Chick met with Cllr David Huxtable from Somerset County Council and Tim Evans from MAS Seeds and agreed to test the scheme on a 1,000 sq metre patch of land along Ellicombe Straight between Minehead and Dunster.
A contractor has been selected to carry out the work – G. A .Sully and Sons – but with a tight budget set by SCC, a certain amount of goodwill is going to be relied on.
Cllr Alec Chick said: “It is great to see the enthusiasm for this scheme. We are looking to start the process any day now.
“I would like to thank everyone who has contacted me offering their support, including those asking if I was looking for volunteers, which could be a way forward.
“It will be a long time before we see the real benefits, but I am sure it will be worth it.”
