DRAWINGS and paintings by the ‘Woman of Exmoor’ are on display for the first time at the Porlock Visitor Centre.
Hope Bourne had a deep knowledge and understanding of Exmoor from living as self-sufficiently as possible there, and wrote books and columns and created artwork about the area.
She became associated with the Exmoor Society soon after it was founded in 1958 and left her entire estate to it, including a collection of artwork, letters and a financial contribution.
Chairman Rachel Thomas said: “Hope Bourne embodied the spirit of Exmoor and, through her legacy, the Exmoor Society will continue to focus on safeguarding the national park’s special qualities.”
Admission to the exhibition, which will be on display until September 17, is free. For more information, visit www.exmoorsociety.com or www.porlock.co.uk/visitors
