PLANS to commemorate Arthur C. Clarke in Minehead are in need of public support.

At the moment only a small plaque marks the sci-fi author’s birthplace at 13 Blenheim Road but a West Somerset Community College student hopes to create a larger tribute.

John Knight, 16, has proposed a memorial trail in Blenheim Gardens with a 9ft high black granite monolith and 12 granite rocks bearing laser images of famous scenes from the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
