Minehead woman completes charity sky dive

A WOMAN from Minehead has raised more than £130 for a charity which has changed her life after jumping out of a plane at 15,000ft.

Anne Marie Baker, 37, completed her tandem sky dive at Dunkeswell Airfield in Devon after a seven-hour wait due to high winds.

She has mild learning difficulties and receives nine hours’ help a week from support workers from Mencap to enable her to live more independently.

Anne Marie said: “It was overwhelming but not too bad at all. It was very exciting but also quite scary. The people on the ground looked like ants from the air.

“I am really proud that I have raised this money for Mencap – it has changed my life over the last ten years.”

Anne Marie, who works at Blenheim Lodge residential care home in Minehead, plans to continue with her hobbies of kayaking and sailing in her spare time.
