Profits soar at top Wellington employer

THE boss of Swallowfield in Wellington is remaining cautiously optimistic despite a huge rise in profits.

Swallowfield recorded an increase in profit of over 17% for the year ending June 30 with earnings per share rising by 16.7% from 9.6p to 11.2p.

The figures are a welcome boost to the town, which is trying to increase visitors to help the local economy.

Chief executive Ian Mackinnon, right, said: “Despite the continuation of the tough economic climate the business has made good progress during the year, increasing its top line and reducing its cost base.

“We continue to remain cautious going forward.”
