A WORLD record attempt will be taking place in Vivary Park as part of a Wellington-based charity’s family fun day.

Reminiscence Learning will attempt to set a Guinness World Record attempt for the largest gathering of people dressed as scarecrows this Sunday, May 22.

It’s the same day as the organisation’s family fun day for Archie’s Record Breaking Birthday Party.

They marked the launch recently when Archie – the central figure in their intergenerational dementia awareness Archie Project – braved the high ropes.

Emma Green, from the charity, said: “This exciting event will mark the end of a very busy week of activities for National Dementia Awareness week for the team at Reminiscence Learning.

“We have been incredibly lucky to have the help and guidance of both Santander and Time for Events as well as the support of many local businesses and are confident it will be an amazing day.

“We are also very proud to have the Mayor of Taunton Deane, Councillor Vivienne Stock-Williams, joining us on the day and officially welcoming everyone at 11am.

“What we really need now is more people to register to be part of the world record attempt – don’t miss this opportunity to be a record breaker.

“Email archie@reminiscencelearning to sign up.”

The birthday party will be free and will take place from 10am - 4pm in Vivary Park.

There will be musical entertainment, market stands, fun fair rides, circus tent and food stalls and a celebratory birthday cake provided by Ministry of Cake.

Anyone who would like to be part of the record attempt needs to register their interest, you will then be sent an information pack.

Scarecrows have to be 12 or older to be part of the record but children are invited to dress up.
