A HOUSE fire in Wellington has left extensive damage to the property.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at Champford Mews in Wellington shortly after 8pm last night (June 1).
Crews from Wellington, Taunton and Wiveliscombe attended the scene to find the front room of the property well alight and got to work using a hose reel jet, covering jet and breathing apparatus.
The property suffered severe damage, with 75 per cent of the first floor damaged by the fire and the remainder of the property affected by smoke damage.
The Red Cross Fire and Emergency Supports Services Vehicle was requested to help the property's occupier, and both neighbouring properties were checked over for any fire spread.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue confirmed that the cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.
