WELLINGTON Sports Centre was evacuated after reports of a fire.
Fire crews were called to the sports centre around 7pm (March 29) yesterday after being alerted to the alarm sounding.
On arrival, crews confirmed that smoke was issuing from the server room area and another engine was requested.
The premises was evacuated and fire crews investigated the area using two breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera.
The smoke was found to be in the server room involving the server unit.
Duty of care was left with the staff.
Classes are running normally today (March 30) and the centre is open as normal this morning. The gym facilities are not yet fully open but a spokesman for the centre said they expect everything to be running smoothly in a few hours.
