Our campaign launches

Your County Gazette has launched an ambitious green campaign to cut the number of plastic carrier bags used in the Taunton, Wellington and West Somerset area.

We have teamed up with the world famous United Kingdom Hydrographic Office, based in Taunton, and are calling on readers to pledge to reduce the number of plastic bags they use by at least a quarter over the next 12 months.

All those who make the pledge will be entered into a free prize draw to win a limited edition reusable jute bag.

How YOU can get involved ...

Your pledge to reduce carrier bag usage will help improve Somerset's environment AND could win you a stylish new bag!

We're calling on readers to send us a pledge to reduce the number of plastic carrier bags they use by at least 25% - that's a quarter, or one in four. All you need to do is send us your pledge.

And in return for your pledge, we'll help you meet it!

Every pledge we receive will be entered into a FREE, weekly prize draw to win a limited edition eco-friendly jute bag that you can use time and time again.

We'll be giving away free bags every week and will list the names of the winners in the paper, so keep reading to see if you've won. Winners will then be able to collect their bag from our office in Taunton - just bring some ID. We'll also publish the name and town/village of everyone who makes the pledge.

The stylish bag features our fun 'Somerset Green Family' design, as well as the logos of the County Gazette and the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office.
