ORGANISERS of the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Appeal have enjoyed a superb start to a campaign to gain the biggest 5p collection in the world.
The 5p total now stands at a massive £11,500 and has got the backing of Taunton MP Jeremy Browne.
On Tuesday, he was presented with a gold 5p collection pot with a special inscription.
Campaign organiser Eric Saffin said: "The normal pot reads pop in a five, keep someone alive', but Mr Browne's gold one reads in saving lives one must be bold, so pop your fives into this pot of gold!'"
The campaign has also been boosted with a donation of £200 from a Mrs Walker, while this Sunday, September 30, there is a fundraising whist drive at Oake Village Hall at 2pm, including tea.
