THE County Gazette half marathon team is among the first to contribute to the campaign by SURE and the newspaper to raise £200,000 to reach its fund-raising target.
After months of gruelling training, and many miles of streets pounded, all five team members successfully made it around the 13-mile course without stoppping.
And, in doing so, they raised over £1,100 pounds.
Team member and editor in chief Ken Bird said: "Although it was hard work, it's great to see the team pull together and raise such a large amount for our new campaign.
"We hope it's the start of many thousands of pounds to come rolling in for SURE."
