THERE has been a big jump in donations for the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment this week, which is backed by the County Gazette.
A massive £1,025 was sent in to the campaign by supporters and £300 was given by Carol Starks, who held a coffee morning in Bishops Lydeard recently.
Kind-hearted newlyweds Dave and Sue Morris asked their wedding guests for donations to SURE in lieu of presents and raised £415.
That brings the grand total raised since the County Gazette joined together with SURE to £8466.
But there is still a long way to go, as SURE wants to raise an extra £200,000 to add to the £400,000 already raised to ensure the equipment they will provide for a new cancer centre, due to be built at Musgrove Park Hospital, will be the best available.
It does not matter have big or small a donation is every little helps.
In fact the County Gazette team has raised £48 for SURE through a World Cup sweepstake that was held this included a donation by editor Ken Bird of his second place winnings.
