SMALL and medium-sized businesses in Somerset can get free expert advice on employment issues at an HR Clinic in Taunton on Monday (February 23) between 9am and 7pm.
Leading employment consultant Debra Spurway of The HR Dept will be giving free 30-minute sessions at Taunton’s exclusive business centre Exchange House on The Crescent.
The clinic is designed for business owners who do not have a full-time in-house specialist dealing with employment issues.
It will offer advice on any human resources concerns, including lay-offs, redundancies, long-term sickness, contracts of employment and dealing with difficult members of staff.
Mrs Spurway is an active member of the Somerset branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and has worked as an HR professional in the county for many years.
Her business, The HR Dept, provides employment advice and services for small and medium-sized businesses across the county.
She said: “Over a number of months, I have been contacted by many businesses with concerns about how to put a redundancy, lay-off or short-time working plan in place.
It is good to know that employers want to take appropriate action from the start by planning effectively and protecting themselves from tribunal claims.
“The HR Clinic is designed to give initial guidance to business owners who want to fulfil their responsibilities to employees but find the legislation overwhelming.”
The clinic is by appointment only – to book a place contact The HR Dept on 08456-349164.
