EXETER Chiefs' defeat by Leinster in the Heineken Cup yesterday was made all the worse by a serious-looking injury to England flanker Tom Johnson.

The 30-year-old was carried off on a stretcher after 15 minutes of the 29-20 defeat with a nasty-looking injury.

Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter said the extent of the injury would not be know until the club receives the results of a scan.

Johnson has been in excellent form for Exeter over the past couple of seasons and won his first England cap during the tour of South Africa last summer.

He was named in Stuart Lancaster's squad for the Six Nations championship which gets under way on February 2.
