Taunton Town are on their travels again tomorrow when they travel to Oxfordshire to take on North Leigh in the Evo-Stik League (3pm).

Snow and rain has put paid to several of Taunton’s fixtures over recent weeks and although they returned to action with a narrow defeat at Yate Town last weekend, their scheduled game at Merthyr Town was postponed on Tuesday night due to a waterlogged pitch.

However, prospects for this weekend will no doubt improve given less rain being forecasted.

The Peacocks will be out to prevent North Leigh from securing the league double after they were 2-0 winners at Wordsworth Drive in October.

That league defeat is one of only two that Taunton have suffered at home all season, their away form being of much greater concern, having gleaned only four points from eleven games on their travels to date.

Manager Leigh Robinson said: “The last three away games in particular have summed up our season.

“On the balance of chances we have been worth a point in all three but through missed chances and one moment of not concentrating in each game we’ve ended up with nothing.

“We’ve also used 20 players in the last three games due to injury and unavailability which is again indicative of the season. It makes it so hard to go away from home and be resilient when we have to make this many changes.”

Taunton play their first home game since New Year’s Day when they entertain Mangotsfield United on Wednesday (February 6), at 7.45pm.
