FOOTBALL: Taunton Town seek revenge at home to Didcot
6:00pm Friday 8th February 2013 in Sport
This follows the Peacocks’ 2-2 draw with Mangotsfield United on Wednesday which was their first home fixture in more than a month. Taunton only recently lost 3-0 at Didcot in the away fixture so will want to avoid conceding a quick-fire league double.
Manager Leigh Robinson said: “Didcot are one of the form teams in the league right now so it will be a tough game.
“Sometimes you get lucky and catch teams at the right time and three months ago Didcot were really struggling.
“Since then though they have signed a few players and won plenty of matches so now is not a great time to be playing them twice in the space of three weeks.
“That said, we matched them up at their place for 70 minutes; their keeper made a few good saves, we had a blatant penalty for handball turned down, but then an error cost us and then we got countered on chasing the game late on so we won’t go into the match with any fear. If anything we owe them one.”
Carl Cliff Brown and Rodney Marsh could return after a spell out injured with hamstring and ankle problems respectively but Andy Robertson is still likely to be missing with a groin injury.
Ben Mammola should also be back in the squad after being unavailable for the Mangotsfield game.
Taunton will be hosting some special guests before the match. Some ponies from Conquest Riding Centre will be in attendance to meet the fans to mark the club’s sponsorship of three of the centre’s horses.
On Tuesday evening Taunton make the short trip to Bridgwater Town, kick-off 7.45pm, for the derby rearranged from Boxing Day.
