FOOTBALL: Taunton Town lose FA Cup replay with Bridgwater
6:51am Wednesday 4th September 2013 in Sport
TAUNTON Town lost 2-1 to Bridgwater Town in their FA Cup replay at Fairfax Park last night, writes James Wright.
After the mayhem of the first encounter, perhaps understandably the match started at a pedestrian pace.
There was not a shot on target until mid-way through the first half when Kyle Moore easily pouched a curling effort from Bridgwater's Saturday scorer Aaron Wilson.
The Robins should have taken the lead just before the half hour mark when Bradley Middleton was left entirely unmarked from a James Pilling free-kick, but he shunted his header high and wide.
Bridgy finally made the breakthrough on the stroke of half time, Daine O'Connor stooping to nod home a deep Alex Faux cross that was knocked back at the far post.
The home side were generally on top after the interval until the Peacocks levelled with a stunning individual goal from captain Jamie Price 20 minutes from time.
But three minutes from time Joe Bushin got on the end of a teasing cross from the right and looped a perfectly placed header over Moore to secure Bridgwater's passage to the First Qualifying Round.
