TAUNTON Town are hoping for an improvement in both the weather and their fortunes when they take on Evesham United in the Calor League at the Viridor Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

The Boxing Day defeat to Tiverton made it a return of only one point from four league fixtures during December – in stark contrast to the preceding month which saw the Peacocks win all seven games.

This weekend’s encounter therefore gives Town an ideal opportunity to get back on track against their Worcestershire opponents who shared the points with Taunton on the opening day of the season following a 4-4 draw.

Taunton’s scheduled match at Shortwood United last Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

And yesterday’s game at Bridgwater Town suffered the same fate. That means Chris Young and Shane Kingston will both miss the Evesham clash instead to serve their one match ban for five bookings. The Peacocks have secured sponsorship from Taunton-based Viridor, the leading recycling, renewable energy and waste management company.

Dan Cooke, Director of External Affairs at Viridor, said: “As a local provider of essential recycling and waste services, with our base and recycling operations in Taunton, we were keen to expand our grassroots commitment to the local community.

“The opportunity to support Taunton Town FC should provide a great way to do that – like the Peacocks, we’re all about results.”
