KING'S Hall School’s Ed Cashmore won silver at the South West Tae Kwon Do championships in Paignton.
Having won a gold medal at the southern championships as well as bronze medals at the British and Welsh events in the last six months, Ed’s confidence was high.
However he faced a greater challenge following his move up to the middleweight division which meant he is now fighting at the bottom of a new weight category.
Ed won his first three fights without conceding a point.
But in the final he came up against a much taller boy who had been recommended to go up into the heavyweight division.
After going two points down Ed pulled back to 2-2. He then had two points disallowed before losing by just one point in the last five seconds.
Ed is now looking forward to the English Championships to be held in Worcester on March 16.
