TAUNTON made it two wins in four days with a 2-1 Calor League victory over Evesham United at the Viridor Stadium last night.

It was a workmanlike performance by the Peacocks who restricted the visitors to very few opportunities although from one of them Evesham might have taken the lead, Marcus Palmer hitting the ball just over the bar from close in.

Ross MacNab's effort across goal went wide before he played a part in Town grabbing the lead on 24 minutes, his blocked attempt falling to Ben Carter just inside the box who steered the ball inside Louie Barnfather's left-hand post to register his first goal for the Peacocks.

There was no doubting Evesham's equaliser on 49 minutes, Carl Brown blasting the ball past Joe Perry from the edge of the area after a neat bout of passing.

However Town soon restored their advantage, going 2-1 up on 59 minutes when Steve Kingdon's long throw from the left was partially cleared to Lewis Tasker who rode a challenge to bury a half-volley past Barnfather.

Taunton might have increased the scoreline but shots from Tasker and Jamie Short were deflected wide as the hosts maintained their lead without too many alarms.
