TAUNTON School will again play host to the Taunton Triathlon, run by Total Buzz Events, on Sunday.

This is the fourth year of the rapidly-growing event from its base at the school and 2014 numbers are likely to top 200.

The race will start at 8am with a 400m swim in the pool. Athletes will then head out on their bikes, essentially on a time trial route, which follows the B3227 to Wiveliscombe and back to the school.

The final element, a 5km run, goes along Staplegrove Road into town, along Station Road before running west along Greenway Road.

The last section sees a run back down Staplegrove Road before finishing outside the front of the fabulous main school building.

Because of the nature of Triathlon – it is a race against the clock – there is no need for any road closures.

The winners from last year, are away racing elsewhere, so new winners will be crowned in both the men’s and ladies’ races.

Also up for grabs are awards in men’s and ladies’ age categories.

Spectating is best within the school grounds. Entries closed on Wednesday but anyone wanting to be involved as a volunteer, should email steve@fullonsport.com
