FOOTBALL: King's College students are leading the way

A GROUP of King’s College students have completed the FA Junior Football Leaders Award.

They have worked with local primary schools, running fun football sessions under the watchful eye of course tutor and Head of Football, Chris Heayns.

He said: “This is a great introduction to leadership and coaching in football and really good fun.

“Many have also committed to the Football Futures Volunteering programme which requires them to commit up to 100 hours of volunteering in football over the academic year, and that provides valuable personal experience that they can take into life after King’s.”

As part of their leaders award programme the King’s students spent time working with children at Holy Trinity Primary School in Taunton.

Trinity’s head teacher, Nigel Bright, said: “Our class of Year 4 and 5 children really enjoyed their work with the girls and boys from King’s during the Spring term.

“So much so that their teacher, Mr Bottomley, has started a girls’ football club here at Trinity to build on their enthusiasm.”

“We hope to continue to work with the team and young leaders next year.

“Our congratulations go to the King’s girls and Mr Heayns on winning the ISFA Girls’ Under-18 trophy.”
