TAUNTON Deane beat Ilminster by seven wickets in the semi-final of the Baker Cup and will now face Ashcott and Shapwick at the County Ground on Thursday, July 3, starting at 6pm.

Deane skipper Saxby believes the cup competitions were an area where they have been playing their best cricket.

He said: “They have added real impetus to our Saturday cricket and our win over Ilminster was a pretty complete performance and we are looking forward to the final next Thursday.”

Ashcott and Shapwick have excelled in the 20/20 form of the game so far this season and have made it to the final for the second year in a row.

In their last four encounter Ashcott had prevailed in a re-run of the 2013 final as they saw off the challenge of Taunton St Andrews.

An interesting game awaits after Deane prevailed in the league meeting between the two sides back in May.

In the semi-finals of the Terry Mockridge Memorial Shield, Bishops Lydeard of the WEPL Somerset Division meet Watchet of the Somerset League, Division Two at Wellington CC next Monday 30th (June 30).

The following Monday sees two WEPL Somerset sides go head to head as Wellington take on Staplegrove A on their own patch leading to a final at Staplegrove CC on Monday, July 14.
