AFTER a quiet winter Dave Carter, the former seniors competitions secretary at Vivary, stormed back into form with a trio of high-profile victories.

He won the Ray Hawkins Stableford convincingly with 44 points, two ahead of Bill Cridge and three in front of third placed Pat Vaughan.

Gathering 42 points, he performed nearly as well in winning the Les Mason Stableford but he was hard-pressed this time by Pete Jeffery who came in second with 41 and Bob Stock who was third with 40.

Carter’s third triumph was probably his best when he cruised home comfortably with a flawless nett 58 in the August Medal.

Derek Moore took second with 61 and Pete Jeffery came third on 62 with a better back nine than Charles Hall who had the same score.

The Captain’s Cup was won with some margin of victory by John Troke who compiled a nett 60, four ahead of Keith Wood, Fred Chapman and Bob Stock who were placed in that order respectively by count-back.

The three-man team of Brian Cridland, Keith Parker and Keith Wood won the Vivary Sixes with 87 points. Terry Gibbs, Ray Fallon and Bill Cridge were second four behind, and third place was taken by Pete Jeffery, Dave Thomas and Mike Manning who scored 82 points.

Chris Stone and Dave Beale compiled a score of 58.25 to win the Two Man Scramble. Dave Thomas and Dai Lloyd were second with 61 and Keith Wood and Phil Nichols third on 61.25.

The May Medal had previously been won by John Blissitt on 60 with Keith Wood taking second on 64 and Pete Jeffery third on 66.
