TAUNTON Town face a tricky assignment in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup tomorrow when they travel to Southern Premier outfit Paulton Rovers, (kick-off 3pm).

The North Somerset side were promoted via the play-offs last season and currently lie in 19th place after collecting seven points from their first nine games. Apart from the divisional gap, the Peacocks will also have to overcome a poor FA Cup record in recent years if they are to make progress and maintain their 18 game unbeaten run, having failed to venture past this round since 2006.

Manager Leigh Robinson said: “We’re all really looking forward to the game and can approach it under no pressure as Paulton will naturally be expected to win.

“It’s a ground that we have done well at recently and I always think our lads enjoy the underdog tag so hopefully we can go and cause an upset.

“It would also be great to take a good support up there as it’s semi-local and much like at Bridgwater this week, the players will thrive on that if we do.”

Unfortunately Town will not be at full strength as they are missing Ben Mammola and Joe Bushin plus recent signing Craig Herrod who is cup tied, having played for Street in an earlier round.

New recruit Ben Kirk though is eligible for the tie and it is hoped Rodney Marsh may be fit enough to make the squad following a recent injury.

Should a replay be necessary, it will take place at the Viridor Stadium on Tuesday evening, kick-off 7.45pm.

There are a number of coach seats available to supporters who would like to travel to the game. The cost is £10 per head and the coach will leave the ground at 11.45am. To book a place or for more information email admin@tauntontown.com or ring the club on 01823-254909.
