TAUNTON Town have a rearranged Southern League game at home to Didcot Town on tomorrow (3pm).

Their original fixture with Larkhall Athletic had to be postponed due to the Bath side’s continued involvement in the FA Cup, prompting the bringing forward of the Didcot game from early November to fill a potentially blank weekend.

It promises to be a difficult test against Didcot who are on Town’s coat tails, two points adrift with equal games played, and who have won their last two games away from home convincingly.

The match will give the Peacocks a chance to get back on track following their surprise defeat to Bashley last Saturday which brought their 15-game unbeaten league run to an end. Manager Leigh Robinson said: “Last Saturday was obviously frustrating but I’m certainly not getting on the players’ backs about it.

“I can guarantee that any team in our division who has had success in the last few years has experienced days like that during a season. You just need to take it on the chin and move on.

“It’s very rare for our lads to make individual errors like they did at both ends but they’re not robots and can have a bad day at the office like anyone.

“The positives are that the first half an hour was probably our best football of the season and in particular Jamie Price bombing forward from right back looked fantastic.

“We’ll be encouraging the players to stay calm on Saturday, focus on the first 30 minutes against Bashley and express themselves.” Town should be at full strength apart from Shane Kingston who is away.

On Tuesday Taunton begin their defence of the Somerset Premier Cup when they make their first ever visit to Wincanton Town who are currently top of the Western League Division One (7.30pm).

Taunton Under 18s have progressed in two cup competitions in the past week.

They overcame Glastonbury 4-3 after extra time in the Roger Stone Memorial Cup last Thursday then trounced Elmore 9-3 in the first qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday night, Lewis Waldy scoring a hat-trick.
