WELLINGTON head coach Lee Waddon says his side are improving every week and believes it’s only a matter of time before they secure their first win of the season.
Waddon’s side were beaten 39-23 by Truro in Tribute Western Counties West on Saturday, but scored four tries to secure a bonus point – and Waddon is encouraged by what he has seen.
He said: “We knew it was going to be a tough start to the season when we saw the fixtures, but if we had played as well as we did on Saturday the week before, we would already have our first win.
“We’ve got a lot of young guys in the team and a few new faces, so we are still gelling as a team.
“We’re scoring tries which is encouraging, but we just need to learn to close the door in defence and close games out.
“But these lads are so keen to improve and a pleasure to coach and I’m sure once we get our first win we will be off and running.”
Tomorrow the Red and Blacks return to league action at Wadebridge Camels (3pm).
