TAUNTON’S London 2012 Paralympic wheelchair tennis bronze medallist Lucy Shuker is setting her sights on doubles Masters success next month.

That follows her fifth doubles title of the season at the Open de la Baie de Somme in Rue, France, last weekend.

Shuker partnered Dutchwoman Marjolein Buis to victory as they completed the ITF 1 Series tournament with victories over both the seeded partnerships in the semi-finals and final.

The British No2 now looks to reach her third doubles Masters final in California at the beginning of November, when she will partner Sabine Ellerbrock of Germany.

Ellerbrock was on the opposite side of the net with her Dutch partner Jiske Griffioen when Shuker and Buis beat the second seeds in the last four in France.

In the final they defeated the top seeds, Shuker’s London 2012 medal-winning partner Jordanne Whiley and South Africa’s Kgothatso Montjane 6-4, 3-6, (10-8) after a match tie-break in the final.

After returning to training at Blackbrook Leisure Centre, Shuker is looking forward to teaming up with Ellerbrock in California.

She said: “Tactically it’s going to be very different, playing with a different player and also it’s outdoors, but I’ve got a good record playing with Sabine. We’ve reached two finals this year and won the title in South Africa, so it will be good to get back on court together again.”
