TAUNTON continued their fine form with a 1-0 win at home to Mangotsfield on Tuesday, writes James Wright.

The home side started the stronger and after Rob Norrish had felled Mitchell Page, Matthew Collins blasted a free-kick into a solid Taunton defensive wall.

Page then stretched Joe Perry into a good save before Town finished the half back on top.

Murray buried a shot into the side-netting following a Carter corner early in the second half.

The visitors then enjoyed a brief purple patch during which Perry pulled off excellent saves from a Marcus Mapstone header and two Lewis Powell drives.

On the hour Murray rattled Dempsey’s far post with a fierce drive from an outrageous angle on the right.

Then Jamie Short, who registered a superb goal in last season’s comeback at Mangotsfield, nearly repeated the feat.

The deadlock was finally broken five minutes from time by a quite delightful goal.

An Owen Irish clearance was knocked on by Jamie Price to Brett Trowbridge.

The former Weston midfielder released Murray who beat the advancing Dempsey with a fine chip.
