Cougars’ other goal came from Ali Poole.

Redgate also go through to the next round after a 3-1 victory over Hamilton Athletic Foxes.

On target for them were Sam Granville, Ashley Bargery and Jack Hamblin. Jordan Watts replied for Hamilton.

East Bower were quick out of the blocks as they grabbed an early goal with Brendan Pope using his pace to beat the Staplegrove Colts keeper to the ball.

Into the break at half time with the score all square after Jason Quick had equalised for The Grove.

Bower again were sharp straight from the whistle and after a lot of pressure Kaiih Knight brought the ball down which then fell to Shane Frost who calmly slotted the ball away.

As the game mellowed, a bit of pressure from Pope on the keeper led to a mistake, leaving him an open net to settle the game before the final whistle. The Grove boys felt a little aggrieved at having what they believe were three good penalty claims turned down.

Rowbarton Charity Cup, first round Dulverton Town were unlucky to be knocked out of the cup by Bridgwater Sports as they were the ones that scored the only goal of the game in the wrong net. Porlock Reserves from Division Four found First Division opponents Bishops Lydeard Reserves too hot to handle going down 1v3.

Ollie Foster, Kirk Poulson and Charlie Cooke all scored for Lydeard and one of their colleagues provided Porlock with their score.

Knock Out Cup It was a relatively comfortable evening’s work for Locomotives beating Porlock 8-1.

Locos went one down to a Will Purvis goal but they soon pulled it back to 1-1 and then increased it to 3-1 by half time. In the second half Locos stepped it up a gear with five more goals. Dan Scaddon, Jay Cross, Luke Oliver, Ryan Vickery, Ed Frampton, James Weaver, Matt Pounde all netted once and their eighth came courtesy of Porlock.

Division One League leaders Locomotives having scored eight goals on Wednesday in the Knock Out Cup get their scoring boots on and put another six in the net against Wyvern who only managed one in reply.

Tom Edwards scored three, Joe Wilknson two and Ryan Vickery one, Leigh Parsons got the Rangers consolation goal. Middlezoy Rovers Reserves remain undefeated after a 5-0 win over Porlock.

Kyran Devitt scored the first from a direct free kick, Regan Blake had an easy tap in for the second, Jamil Choudhury took advantage of a good one-two to get the third.

Devitt got his second and the team’s fourth thanks to a heavy deflection which beat the keeper and the fifth came from player/manager Dave Warren with a stunning curler into the top corner.

A fortunate deflection from a free kick opened up a tight game in the 60th minute between Sampford Blues and Tone Youth with Blues scoring first.

Sampford took full advantage as Tone didn’t respond and they let in two more quick goals to go 3-0 down in the space of ten minutes.

Blues’ goals from Aaron Braddick, Luke Lawrence and Jack Kelly. Tone finally rallied and came back into the game, but ran out of time for the equaliser with Steve Scorse and Mike Kearley giving them hope. It was a cagey start between Staplegrove Reserves and North Petherton before the game opened when Senna Clapp timed his run perfectly to spring the offside trap to put the visitors in the lead.

Into the second half it was Grove who levelled from Adam Smith before Clapp bagged his brace.

Tim Gibbs made it 3-1 with a header from a corner and it was then a nervy finish as Grove pulled one back, again from Adam Smith, to make it 3-2. But Pethy held on take all three points.

Division Two Alcombe Rovers are also undefeated and they came out 4-0 winners away to Stogursey.

Lee Todd, Aaron Ireton, Chris Newbold and Jack Furse all scored.

There is one more undefeated side in the division – in fact they are the only one with a 100% record but have played one less than the other two – and that is Milverton who beat Minehead Reserves 2-1. It was a very close match, though Milverton should have scored a handful but Minehead took advantage and scored first.

Craig Plumridge scored two ‘worldies’ in the second half to capitalise and get the win for Milverton. Nether Stowey have their keeper to thank for their three points as he saved a Watchet penalty to ensure his side won 2-1. Ben Puddy and Dan Plowright had scored for Stowey.

Division Three Woolavington have only played two league games so far but have won them both, the latest a 3-2 win over Norton Fitzwarren. Norton went 1-0 down after ten minutes before goals from Scot Mervin and an overhead kick from Harry Burston put Norton 2-1 up.

But Woolavington equalised just before half time to make it 2-2.

The second half was a hard- fought battle in which the home team scored the only goal to win the game 3-2. Josh Corkett scored twice for the winners and Gary Head once. Alcombe Rovers Reserves had a 1-0 win over Bridgwater Sports Reserves with Jason Woodhouse scoring the only goal of the game.

It was honours even between Galmington Dragons and Exmoor Rangers with a 1-1 result. Jimmy Baker scored Exmoor’s goal from the penalty spot in the first half and they led at half time but Galmington got an equaliser in the second half through Oliver Tucker.

Division Four There were only three games in this division this week as several clubs were involved in cup games.

There was a good competitive game between Wiveliscome and Galmington Dragons Reserves which ended in a hard fought win for the Dragons 5-3 .

After going two behind, Dragons played some excellent football and fashioned two goals to equalise and found the energy to go on in the second half.

Charlie Bevan caused havoc in the Wivey defence, bagging himself four goals, with some excellent support from midfield and from the wings of Sam Witt and Robbie Welham. Wivey rallied late but another Bevan goal put the game to bed. Luke Bottomley also scored for Dragons. Williton had a 4-2 home win over Bridgwater Grasshoppers. Division Five Bishops Lydeard Colts had a convincing 6-0 win over Norton Fitzwarren Reserves. It was a good start to the game between Fivehead and The Gallery Reserves with both teams having penalties but both keepers saved them.

The Gallery took the lead on the 35th minute mark through Jacob Shoemark. From the start of the second half Fivehead came out the better side and were level after 75 minutes thanks to a great finish from Ashley Smith. It was a game of two halves between Bridgwater Sports Colts and North Curry that was dictated by the wind.

It saw North Curry take a 1-0 lead into half time with a cool finish from Joe Gratton. Sports made full advantage of playing with the wind to score two early second half goals and continue to press and scored two further goals to win 4-1.
