THE Senior Men and the Ladies at Oake Manor held their annual Winter Ball Trophy, donated by Jane Smalley.
This is a 4-Ball Better Ball format, with the Ladies playing off the Men’s stroke index, albeit with three courtesy points. A total of 32 players took part on a glorious early autumn morning.
The men just held on to the trophy, by five matches to three.
Results of the Ladies’ medal held on September 30: Jane Clist 76 Gross 69 net, Janet Howe 91 gross 72 net, Clare Tough 109 gross 73 net and Jeanette Jones 96 gross 74 net.
The men’s Stableford results held on October 1 were extremely close, the first three places all being decided on countback.
Result: 1st John Byrne 39, 2nd Peter Bowler 39, 3rd Guy Backhouse 39, 4th D Matthews 38.
