THERE was early encouragement for the newly-reformed Taunton district schools set-up when the Under-15s enjoyed a 3-0 victory over Bridgwater.

The match, played at Bridgwater’s Robert Blake Science College, saw the two sides put in an entertaining performance in front of a good number of supporters from both sides.

Taunton took the lead before half time when Pepe Bernal Tarda of Taunton School wriggled around two tackles to strike at goal.

His strike defeated the keeper, hitting the inside of the post where it rolled agonisingly along the line before Niall Carr finished it off.

In the second period a couple more goals were added to secure the result.

Sam Brown hit a strike from distance that on this occasion eluded the impressive Bridg-water keeper.

Then the third came from the hard-working Ryan Brereton who after a good period of Taunton pressure, cut back across his marker to fire a left foot strike into the bottom corner from 18 yards out.
