HAMILTON Athletic Foxes clinched a place in the next round of the Gardner Cup with a 4-2 defeat of Bridgwater Grasshoppers.

They took the lead through Nick Penny then a powerful header from a corner by Chris McKee made it 2-0 at half time.

Grasshoppers started the second half well and pulled back to 2-2 with goals from Dan Saunders and Kieran Giles.

But with ten minutes to go veteran Martin Groody took on a couple of players before calmly chipping the keeper from just outside the box to put Foxes 3-2 up.

Then Jake Aird then put the game to bed with another powerful header from a corner. Two goals in extra time by Clinton Kneeshaw gave Exmoor Rangers a 4-2 win over Alcombe Rovers reserves.

After a goal-less first half, Exmoor’s Sean Kendall shot from 20 yards and saw the ball squeeze between the goalkeeper’s legs.

But Alcombe stormed back and netted twice through Adam Jeffrey and Paul Matcham only for Sean Meade to make it 2-2 with a couple minutes left.

West Somerset Rose Bowl Wyvern Rangers lost a shoot-out with Bridgwater Sports reserves after the two sides were all square a t 4-4 after 120 minutes.

Division One Bishops Lydeard reserves went down 4-1 to Bridgwater Sports in a match played in sleet with strong winds.

Sports took the lead but Lydeard were always looking dangerous on the counter-attack and they equalised with good finish from the edge of the box by Josh Parker before half time.

Sports got a crucial early goal in the second period and went on to wrap up the game comfortably.

Second-placed Locomotives were held goal-less at half time by Stapelgrove reserves in the first half but stepped up the pace to take the game 4-1.

Kieron Wyatt fired them in to a 1-0 lead only for Andy Walbridge to level. But Tom Edwards made it 2-1, Wyatt grabbed a second and Jay Cross rounded it off with the fourth. Sampford Blues and North Petherton shared the points with a 2v2 draw.

Luke Lawrence scored for Blues and Pethy provided their second with an own goal.

Division Two THERE were only two games in this division with neither affecting the top positions.

Dulverton Town drew 3-3 with Westonzoyland their goals coming from Adam Kelland, Lee Hooper and Dave Kelland.

Minehead reserves remain without a win after losing 5-1 at home to Stogursey. Their only goal came from Connery Attwell.

Division Four LEADERS Creech Cougars beat Williton 2-0 but the visitors came away feeling they should have taken something from the game.

Cougars Adam Barter claimed both scores although a dubious goal panel might have given either as an own goal.

Ash Roberts scored for Wivelis-combe but it wasn’t enough as his side went down 2-1 to North Peth-erton reserves.

Galmington Dragons reserves finally gave Ash Rangers a run for their money after being comprehensively beaten in the Seward cup and away in the league by their opponents this season.

They battled valiantly but in vain and the 5-2 scoreline rather flattered Ash who got their last goal with the final kick of the match.

Both Tom Wadham and Benn Bartlett got a pair for Ash with Harvey Puddy adding the fifth. Corey Warren and Charlie Bevan replied for the Dragons.
