TAUNTON District Schools U-16s won 4-2 away to Bridgwater Town Development Centre U-16s.

THE home side started brightly putting some good work together, passing well and pressurising Taunton.

Some opportunities to hit the target were squandered or well saved by Tim McKee and as the half wore on this proved costly.

Kofi Martin and Cameron Higgins started to stretch their markers and the first goal came from the latter. Higgins darted on to a well timed through ball and finished past the on rushing keeper.

The second came just before half-time and it was Higgins again.

In the second period Taunton scored through Jack Dunningham.

This, however, kick-started the home side into being more clinical in front of goal and they pulled two goals back, which was a fair reflection of their possession and endeavour.

With the game finely poised, Cameron Sandford and George Morris Edwards took a firmer grip on the central spine of the team. Owen Lindsay was switched to left-back which stopped the threat of the right flank and Higgins was reintroduced to the attack. As Bridgwater searched for an equaliser, Taunton countered with precision – Higgins pounced to score a hat-trick goal and effectively sealed the encounter.
