TAUNTON Town’s reward for Saturday’s comfortable FA Cup 1st Qualifying round win over Hellenic League Tuffley Rovers is another home tie, against Conference South side Truro City on Saturday September 26 writes Kerry Miller.

Truro won last season’s Southern Premier play-offs and are currently sitting in 16th spot with nine points from nine games.

Town boss Leigh Robinson said: “It’s obviously a tough draw but a tie that will really excite us and the fans alike. In one respect I am happy to be the underdogs in this round as we’ve had two games now being the favourites and I always feel we play our best as second favourites.”

There was never any real danger of Tuffley repeating their win of 15 years ago once Jordan Rogers put the Peacocks ahead inside five minutes.

Robinson said of the win: “It was a solid if unspectacular win and a case of job done.

“I felt we had many more gears to go if we’d needed to but the two early goals knocked the stuffing out of them somewhat and the result wasn’t really in doubt from then on.

“It’s great to be in the hat for the next round on Monday. The draw has been kind to us so far and long may this continue.” (see report page 108).

This Saturday Town entertain Burnham who are 16th in the table with three wins from seven games and although they have won twice on the road nine goals in nine games would point to the free scoring Town having the edge.

There is more action at Wordsworth Drive on Monday when the U18 side take on Weston-super-Mare U18 in the FA Youth Cup (7.45pm).
