TAUNTON Town boss Leigh Robinson will be looking to raise his troops sooner rather than later, as they face two more cup ties and a league game with Swindon Supermarine in the next week, writes Kerry Miller.

Few could have predicted Tuesday’s defeat in the Premier Cup at the hands of Western League Division One Wells City - but the contrast could not be much bigger at this stage of the season, as on Saturday Isthmian League Premier Division Bognor Regis Town visit the Viridor Stadium for the FA Trophy second Qualifying round tie, sitting five points behind leaders Dulwich Hamlet with three games in hand.

The Sussex side were at the Dorking Wanderers replay and saw what Town were capable of and are sure to pitch up with a sizable following, which should ensure a good atmosphere and healthy attendance.

Then on Tuesday, if there is no replay, Town visit struggling Paulton Rovers in the RedInsure Cup - the League Cup in real money - which now assumes a greater importance after the shock exit in the Premier Cup.

Rovers have yet to win a league game in 17 attempts this campaign and look destined for a return to Town’s current division unless the new boss can pull off a minor miracle.

On Saturday week, Supermarine come to town and at the time of writing have crept into the play-off spots in fifth place and should provide another test for Robinson’s frustratingly unpredictable side going into further league games at AFC Totton and home to Bridgwater Town.

Looking positively Town have only lost two of their last ten games in all competitions but if the glass is half empty, have only won one of the last six, and so anything could happen on Saturday, KO 3pm.
