TAUNTON Racecourse host their first meeting of the new season tomorrow (November 12) where the first of the seven action packed events on the card starts at 1.10pm.

And with ideal racing conditions of good ground a total of 87 runners declared meaning big fields in every race a great afternoon looks to be in store.

Leading trainers Paul Nicholls, Venetia Williams, Philip Hobbs, Alan King, David Pipe and Jonjo O’Neil are all represented and jockeys booked to ride include Barry Geraghty, Noel Fehily, Aidan Coleman, Daryl Jacob and Sam Twiston-Davies.

The big event of the day is the Totetrifecta Pick the 1,2,3 Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles five furlongs, (Class 3) at 3.40pm, which has a massive £13,000 available in prizes.

The horses likely to be well in contention here are Tom Neary, ridden by Nick Schofield for Robert Walford and The Italian Yob under Leighton Aspell for Nick Williams.

Prior to that the other big event on the card is the Totepool Racing’s Biggest Supporter Novices’ Hurdle Race at 2.40pm another Class 3, over two miles three, which carries prize money worth £9K.

The likely odds on favourite for this race looks to be Modus ridden by Geraghty for Nicholls while Iniclair under Jacobs for Pipe is also expected to feature strongly.

Anyone fancying a long priced each way flutter might want to have a look at Up to Al making his first appearance for Bob Buckler.

A courtesy coach departs from Taunton Railway Station two hours before the first race returning from the course 30 minutes after the star of the last.
