GoCrea8 Premiership
Bristol University 4 Taunton Vale 3
BRISTOL University sit proud league leaders of the Premiership and soon scored from a scramble in front of goal - but determined Vale converted an attacking short corner by Ben Stevenson to level.
Confidence grew and the dominant press high up the pitch was too much for the students, who turned the ball over for Ian Haley to score.
A goal in front at half-time, Vale were keen to topple the league leaders and early in the second-half Karl Trunks drag flicked a short corner home a comfortable 3-1 lead.
With such prominent attacking play, Vale’s defence became complacent and the home side were awarded a penalty flick which was converted well and with wind in their sails the students converted a short corner to bring the scores level again.
Feeling luck was on their side, Bristol counter attacked well and upgraded a D entry into a short corner in the final minutes to take a 4-3 lead - and they held on for the last five minutes to secure the victory.
Next up, Vale host Cardiff Met on Friday evening at 8pm under the floodlights
