West Somerset League: Parsons skittles Bishop's Hull


DAN Parsons snapped up unbelievable figures of 9-10 from 10 overs to help Blagdon Hill to an 87-run victory away to Bishop's Hull in Division Two.

The visitors batted first and made 144-6, before dismissing Bishop's Hull for just 56.

Quick bowler Dan Parsons then ripped through the hosts' batting line up, taking the ninth wicket in his tenth over leaving himself a great chance to get all ten as he still had two to bowl.

But he was denied the perfect ten by his brother Dan who wrapped up the innings in the 20th over.

Bishop's Hull's was not the lowest total in Division Two. Huish Champflower were bundled out for just 50 by Lydeard St Lawrence with M. Knight taking 4-5. Earlier, E. Knight made 61 for Lydeard as they compiled 117 all out, E. Bradbury securing 6-23 for Huish.

Also in the second division, Casuals secured victory away to West Monkton, Over Stowey defeated Holford and Cannington won at Bridgetown.

In Division One, Andy Hill smashed 130 and R. Hill 50 as champions Ashbrittle reachied 229-4 at home to Brompton Ralph. The visitors were then bowled out for 117 with L. Methling taking 5-30.

Stogumber hit the highest score in the division - piling up 282-5 at home to Crowcombe. Dane Gilbert led the way, hitting 86 not out, with James Weetch (70) and Stuart Thorne (51) also hitting half centuries. Off spinner Simon Penny was then the chief destroyer, finishing with a quality 6-16 as Crowcombe were dismissed for 170, Tyrone Ash top scoring with an unbeaten 63.

There was another Hill century in the match at Dulverton where Dave Hill finished 101 not out from Roadwater's total of 160 all out. S. Hayes (5-28) and P. Cox (5-29) then shared the wickets as Dulverton were dismissed for just 58.

Paul Squire (4-20), Michael Hutchinson (2-12) and James Snell (3-10) combined as Taunton Deane Crusaders bowled visitors Carhampton out for 48. The hosts then made it home for the loss of four wickets.

Also in the top division, R. Venn (80 not out) and T. Joshi (53 not out) were in the runs for Morebath who won by nine wickets at home to Winsford.

In Division Three, a fine all-round display from Phil Webber could not prevent Cutcombe going down by two wickets away to Buckland St Mary. Cutcombe batted first and were bowled out for 153, with Webber top scoring with 73.

Neil Every took 4-37 for Buckland, who then made it home for the loss of eight wickets thanks laregly to Pierce Willmott's unbeaten 83. Webber was also on form with the ball, taking 4-25.

G. Davey scored 68 not out to help Wiveliscombe to a 36-run victory at home to Timberscombe.

In Division Four, Maurice Burns took 6-13 to help Fitzhead 2nds bowl Trull Crusaders out for 91. Burns then hit an unbeaten 47 to guide his team to a narrow three-wicket victory.

B. Bosley finished with fine figures of 7-27 to as Minehead A bowl Taunton A out for 134. The visitors then made it to their target for the loss of five wickets.

In Division Five M. Vigor (112) and P. Morse (80) were in the runs for Stoke St Gregory who reached a daunting 293-5 away to Brompton Ralph 3rds who were bowled out for 73 - M. Lovell and S. Willey taking four wickets apiece.
