HYDRO Harriers running club, based at the UK Hydrographic Office, recently organised the Piddle Wood Plod 10, a multi-terrain running race from Thurlbear School.
The race, to raise money for SURE and the school, attracted more than 170 runners and raised £1,700.
First home was Luke Scott, of Taunton AC, who beat his time from last year, James Heal was second followed closely by Jon Gilling.
Jim Plunket Cole was fourth and first veteran showing his niece and nephew, that even with 1,257 days of consecutive running at least 10k every day he can still race.
Fifth, dressed in fancy dress, was Justin Thomas.
The woman’s race was dominated once again by Kim Hill, of Taunton AC, who defended her title from last year. Second was Emily Curry, Portishead RC, Caroline Norris, of Pembrokeshire Harriers, was third, while first veteran home was Enza Popham, of Running Forever.
Thurlbear School children were put to work handing out UK HO water bottles to thirsty runners.
