TAUNTON Town boss Leigh Robinson admits his side will be firm underdogs in their Emirates FA Cup third qualifying round home tie against Hampton & Richmond – and that's just the way he likes it.

The Peacocks earned the tie against the National League South high-flyers – scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 1 – after beating Slimbridge 2-0 at the Viridor Stadium on Saturday.

It is also the furthest the club have been in the famous old competition since 1999.

“It’s a tough draw, which is exactly what you expect at this stage of the competition,” said Robinson.

“Personally I much prefer being the underdog, as everyone knows they have to be completely at their best to stand a chance and this makes it an easier game to approach psychologically.

“We’ll be looking forward to the challenge.”

The tie on Saturday week means the scheduled Southern League Division One South & West home clash Slimbridge will now be rearranged.

On Saturday, Town are back in league action as they travel to Swindon Supermarine (3pm) – with seats still available on the coach.

Departure time from the Viridor Stadium is 10.55am and costs £5 per person.
