TAUNTON Town’s battle-weary troops may well welcome the postponement of tonight's scheduled Southern League game with Wimborne Town at the Viridor Stadium after heavy rain.
After their FA Cup near-miss at Barrow the Tuesday before, the Peacocks succumbed to a 5-2 defeat at Salisbury on their return to league action on Saturday.
Ahead of this Saturday's trip to Chelmsford City in the FA Trophy, Town were due to host Wimborne as they look to make up the games they have in hand on their league rivals.
But the weekend's wet weather left the Viridor Stadium resembling a 'lake', with the club tweeting this photo yesterday:
The lake has returned to the @ViridorUK Stadium, think a pitch inspection may be needed tomorrow!! #monsoon pic.twitter.com/v3FQ3yEWH7

And the match has indeed been postponed, with Town confirming the fact in the last hour.

That should mean, weather again permitting, that the FA Trophy match at Chelmsford will be the Peacocks' next outing.
