QUEEN’S College swimmer Jacob Greenow starred in Sheffield this week at the ASA Winter National Championships.

Last Thursday, the 17-year-old finished fourth in the senior men’s 200 individual medley final and sixth in the 200 backstroke.

The next evening, Greenow smashed his personal best time in the final of the Men’s 400 Individual Medley.

Unfortunately, he was just out-touched for the bronze medal again.

However, all three medallists were aged 21, and Jacob comfortably beat all those in his own age group.

On Saturday, Greenow competed in his less-favoured events, the 100 IM and the 200 butterfly.

He swam personal best times in both events and qualified for the A final in the IM, finishing in eighth place, and the B final in the butterfly, finishing in fifth.

Sunday was the last day of competition and Greenow swam the 200 breaststroke.

Again he swam a personal best time and qualified for the B final.

However, he was very tired, having swum 11 races over four days, and so chose not to swim the final.

As a result of his performances at this competition, Greenow ends the year ranked number one in the country for the 17 age category for both the 200 and 400 IMs.
