TAUNTON Town look to get back to winning ways – and extend their unbeaten run to 13 games – against Paulton Rovers tomorrow (ko 3pm), but will have to do it without skipper Brett Trowbridge.

Manager Leigh Robinson told the Gazette that his captain has “a mystery foot injury affecting his heel”, and so is set to be out for a fortnight – potentially bringing Matt Buse back into the fold.

Reflecting on the goalless draw with Swindon Supermarine, Robinson said: “We were a bit off physically, but got a draw against a decent side, who are fourth.

“We had a bad day but didn’t lose, though the players were disappointed, and we’ll look for a reaction this weekend.”

Paulton Rovers are next up, with the seventh-placed Peacocks travelling to the Athletic Ground to face the side 16th in the league.

The reverse fixture at the Viridor in December saw Town win 4-1, with Ben Palmer (his first goal for the club), Matt Wright (2) and Jordan Rogers (penalty) netting.

On Paulton, Robinson said: “They’ve had some good results and bad results, and they played good football against us, so if we catch them on the wrong day they can be a handful – but we’re 12 games unbeaten, so our confidence is high.”

The Peacocks are then scheduled to travel to Bishops Cleeve on Tuesday night (February 7), to take on the 13th-placed Mitres – beaten 1-0 by Town in the FA Trophy in November.

Robinson added that his transfer deadline day was a relaxed affair, with Town permitted to sign players up until the end of March.

“I was a bit worried about some late bids coming in for Matt Wright, but we’re delighted to still have everyone on board,” he said.
