South West Pilot League
Taunton Warriors 29, Bournemouth 13

THE Warriors have won the league with this final match of the season on Saturday.

In beautiful sunshine, the game was always going to be a wide open affair and both sides were happy to move the ball from all over the pitch.

Some slick passing and powerful runs led to both sides scoring early tries but soon the Warriors took control of the game.

The lineout and scrums have been a key area the Warriors look to build their game on and this week didn’t disappoint.

Quick ball off the top of the lineout from John Roberts and Gavin Down enabled Adam Conybear to whip the ball out wide, while, in the scrum, the lads were rock solid.

Out wide, the backs were organised in defence and attack, the moves off fly-half Andy Ford worked well and opened up a lot of space, allowing Dom Fear and Louis Mckenna to run some superb lines.

Five tries were scored in all: Andy England and Sam Adcock both went over for a try after some good pick-and-drives.

Dom Fear, Joe Lewis and Josh Bellemy also went over after showing superb pace up the flanks, Ford converting two.

Coach Andy Ford said: “I knew we could win the league. The lads have worked very hard and it shows on the pitch.

“We still have a couple of friendlies to play and I want to finish in style.”
