ON Sunday, 30 teams of four played in the Taunton and Pickeridge 125 Mixed Open and Seniors’ Mixed Open, a Stableford competition with one Lady and one Gents score to count on each hole.

The Visitors’ Prize in the 125 Mixed Open was won by Steve and Andrea Milton, Neil and Sheila Faulkner (all Sidmouth) with a score of 89 points.

First prize went to Iain Robertson (T&P), Paulette Bamberger-Worton (T&P), Malcolm and Amanda Head (Long Sutton) with 87 points.

The Longest Drive for the Ladies was won by Jacky Ford (T&P).

The Nearest the Pin for the Men was won by Paul Binding (Enmore Park) while for the Ladies it went to Sheila Faulkner (Long Sutton).

In the Seniors’ Mixed Open it was Glynn and Jackie Aitken, Michael and Celia Wise (all Saunton) with 83 points who claimed the visitors prize.

First Prize was won by Mike and Heather Crump, Martin Moore and Jackie Pike (all T&P) with 90 points.

John Wall, Rosie Spragg, Trevor French and Jane Ledsham (all T&P) were second with 84 points, while Keith and Jenny Bevan (T&P), Rod and Liz Stevens (Cricket St Thomas) were third with 83. 

The Longest Drive for the Men was won by Ian Perkins (The Mendip) and for the Ladies by Rosie Spragg (T&P)

Nearest the Pin for the men was won by octogenarian Arthur Morgan (T&P) while for the Ladies it was Lynne Cox (The Mendip).

Nearest the Pin in two shots (available to any player in either competition) was won by Carol Keenan (T&P).

Graham Hayward with 33 points won the Friday Stableford at Taunton and Pickeridge but only after countback edged him ahead of Andy Avis who ended with the same score.

Kevin Hancock was third just ahead of Andy Jones on countback after both returned with 30 points.

There was keen competition when the Ladies Section took part in the EWGA Medal on Tuesday.

Three players carded 69 but following countback it was Katie Guest who was first ahead of Jeanne Leader.

Vivary

THE Seniors Bliffin Trophy at Vivary Golf Club always concentrates minds as the teams alternate playing with a yellow ball that scores double stableford points. 

For the first time in the competition’s history, one team unfortunately lost the crucial yellow ball off the first tee, but Graham Morris, Barrie Cridland and John Troke retained theirs to win with a good score of 136.
Graham Morris then continued his good form by winning the President’s Cup. 

Rod Hobson and Chris Stone were two shots adrift but Hobson took second on countback. 

Mark Lane’s 42 points comfortably won the Jenks Stableford ahead of Keith Parker on 40 - Barry Hembrow came third on 39 with a better back nine than Pat Vaughan.

The Summer Outing to Stover was well attended and allowed Keith Wood to come home first with 37 points.

A June Stableford saw John Shove home first with 40 points followed by Pete Corrick on 36.

Oake Manor

In Division 1 of the Oake Manor Golf Club’s Father’s Day Medal, three players tied on net 66.

On countback, Jim Dale came out the winner with Mathew Bright second and Richard Beesley third.

Gary Jewell won Division 2 with net 68 ahead of Robert Clark and Chris Dubery.

Tom Cornish won the Junior Stableford, scoring an incredible 46 points; Freddie Eglin was second with 41.

Jenny Musgrove won the Ladies Medal, winning Division 1 with a net 67, seven clear of Nancy Marshall.

Kobe Adams, with 42 points, won the Midweek Stableford Competition ahead of Robert Clark and Michael Tourle, each with 38 points.

Mark Payne was the winner of Division 1 in the Saturday Stableford.
