TAUNTON Netball Club’s first team, Vivary, recently faced Teignbridge Titans and Penzance in the playoffs for a place in the newly-formed Regional League 3 South.

The three teams battled one another for two positions, hoping to join other Somerset teams, namely Sydenham’s Gems and Tor’s Knights.

Vivary were up against Teignbridge Titans first and started steadily, the teams matching one another and coming in 15-15 at half time.

The third quarter saw Vivary struggle to maintain their flow, and Titans capitalised to win 34-20.

This was followed by an exciting game between Penzance and Titans, which saw Titans fight back and clinch a dramatic late 27-26 win, giving Vivary an opportunity to qualify by beating Penzance.

Vivary started their game against Penzance very well, demonstrating their best netball and ending the first quarter leading 12-1.

Continued teamwork, strength and commitment throughout the court secured Vivary a convincing 35-24 win, confirming their place in the Regional League next season – a brilliant result for Taunton Netball Club.

The squad: GS Fee Grammer, GA Leila Aladin, WA Faye Symons, C Susie Marsh, WD Lauren Knight, GD Lauren Griffiths, GK Gracie Stevens.

The team wish to thank Kim May, D’Arcy Rowlands, Vicki Cornish and Isla May, who came and reserved, as well as all the supporters.
