THE RAFA Trophy Stableford competition at Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club on Saturday attracted 140 members, playing in support of the RAF Association charity.

The overall winner came from Division 3, with Doug Sharp scoring a creditable 39 points to earn the trophy.

Darryl Pengelly won Division 1 with 37 points, narrowly winning on countback from Alistair Johnston.

Jon Foster came third, beating Charlie Hooper, also on countback, after both scored 36 points.

Division 2 was won by Nick Larcombe on 38 points, from Ian James in second place on 37 points, with Jeff Dyke in third spot on 36 points.

Second place in Division 3 went to Mark Durman with 36 points, and Chris Chedzoy (35 points) beat Ed Whall on countback for third.

On Tuesday, a glorious Autumn day, the Lady Captain’s team played the Vice Captain’s team in a better ball Stableford competition.

At the end of an enjoyable day, it was the Vice Captain’s team that was victorious.

On Sunday, 14 pairs took part in the Captain’s Mixed Foursomes event, at the end of which it was John Godley and Gill Jowett with 40 points who were the winners.

Mike Crump and Margaret Nation claimed second place with 39 points, and Phil King and Jeanne Leader came third with 38.

Twos were recorded by John Godley and Gill Jowett, and also Phil King and Jeanne Leader.

Charlie Hooper, with a total of 136 from three rounds, was the winner in the top division of the Junior Short Game Challenge for 2017, two ahead of Bailey Langford, while Kyle Miller (132) was third.

Freddie Eglin won Division 2 with 100 points from three rounds, while Thomas Rew was second with 75 from two.

SIMON Mankin won the Friday Stableford competition at Oake Manor on September 8, with 36 points.

Phil Porter came second, also with 36 points, and Andy Gent was third with 35 points.

Natalie Lawrence won the Ladies weekend medal competition, scoring a gross 79 nett 73, and she was followed by Karen Mackenzie in second (also nett 73) and Kathy Salway in third (nett 78).

Colin Shepherd won Division 1 of the Seniors Stableford with 36 points, ahead of Martin Rivers (also 36) in second, and Seniors captain Mike Sheppard (35).

Division 2 was won by Phil Grourk with 33 points, with Alan Trott in second (32) and Terry Brown third (also 32).

Jack Malden won Division 1 of the Sunday Medal with a nett 69, edging Paul Nicholls into second, ahead of Andy Wagstaff in third.

In Division 2 the first three players all had nett 72, but on countback Geoff Corlett won, with John Ashton second and Paul Scribbins third.

Bob Tye was the winner of the Wednesday Stableford competition with 40 points, followed by Chris Dubery in second (37) and Simon Greaves third (36).
