Regional League 3 South
Cornwall Storm 49, Vivary 35

TAUNTON Vivary travelled to Truro to play Cornwall Storm and both teams started well, matching each other goal for goal.

It was Storm who took the early lead at the end of the first quarter and Vivary struggled to find their flow in the second quarter which Storm capitalised on, extending their lead to 27-15.

Vivary made some squad changes and came out fighting after half time, winning the third quarter by a goal.

But Storm took back control of the game in the final quarter, consolidating their early lead and securing the win.

Somerset Division 1
Monmouth 48, Bruton Robins 29

A NEWLY-formed Monmouth started the game well with both sound attack and defensive play, taking an early lead (11-8).

The team found their rhythm and took control of the game in the second quarter.

Sound defensive play in the circle led to a lovely flow of the ball up the court to meet precision shooting seeing Monmouth extend their lead (25-15).

Robins scored a number of goals to get back into it, but Monmouth replied and completed the quarter with an 18-goal lead.

The final quarter saw Monmouth consolidate their game.

A SELF-PROCLAIMED ‘bad day at the office’ saw Galmington’s Trident come out on the rough end at Titans.

At times, the team showed real strength, but something was off – yet they still battled until the end.

Hannah Symes (GK), playing up from Hovelands, put in a strong performance to win the player of the match vote, with Nicky Towell (GA) once again putting in a good shift to get the opposition’s vote.

Somerset Division 3
Newbarn 25, Canons 23

AFTER a gruelling match (with quarter scores of 5-9, 13-13 and 17-17), Galmington’s team of the month for October dug deep to pull a two-goal win out of the bag.

It was such strong performance that the player of the match vote was split between Lily Perrin, Toni Smyth and Veronica Falvey, while Vic Nation got the opposition’s vote.

Newbarn kept cool heads and did not panic, despite the final few minutes being so tight and tense.
